Sunday Musings

SanctuarySundayhandsofGod

Sunday, a day that many consider, a day of rest.  What are you doing this day to focus on God?  What ways are you finding to enter into Our Lord's Sanctuary....

I just received in the mail yesterday afternoon my latest book:  Exploring Psalms Volume one by John Phillips

I am looking forward to this book as the last book I read was just fabulous. This will take me a long time to finish, it is 732 pages long and that is only the first 88 Psalms!!!

As I sat down to start reading I am immediately amazed once again how God works and gives me confirmations.  If you did not read my posts from yesterday, take a moment and peruse the one about "Why can't we just all...."  O.k. back to the present...

The first two psalms in the bible are anonymous, we have no idea who wrote them.  The first psalm talks about the Godly Man, the second psalm talks about the Godless man.  The author goes into the following...'Modern psychology tells us to emphasize the positive; God begins by emphasizing the negative.  The Blessed man is marked by the things he does not do, the places to which he does not go, by the books he does not read, by the movies he does not watch, by the company he does not keep.  Surely that's a strange way to being!

God begins this book not with the power of positive thinking, but with the power of negative thinking!  In other words, a man who would be blessed begins by avoiding certain things in life, things which make it impossible for happiness to flourish because they are poisonous, destructive , and counterproductive.'

I was just amazed because I was just paraphrasing my thoughts yesterday and here I read almost the exact same thing not more than 24 hours later.  Praise God for his guidance.
